Program Description

The primary objective of this program is to rehabilitate and prevent juvenile delinquency through sports-based activities that foster positive attitudes and constructive behavior. To date, 5 children have received skills development training under this initiative. The program is currently being implemented across all police stations and sub-districts of Rajshahi District.

Background and Rationale

Juvenile crime rates in Bangladesh are steadily increasing. Many adolescents become involved in crime due to social and family-related challenges. This program seeks to bring about positive change through sports, offering both rehabilitation and prevention opportunities for at-risk youth.

Implementation Methodology

  1. Program Identification and Adoption
    • Conduct small-scale research on barriers to social welfare and development.
    • Based on data and prevailing circumstances, design a program targeting juvenile offenders.
    • Prepare a list of potential participants through referrals from the Juvenile Justice Board, police, and community networks, with parental consent and behavioral commitments.
  2. Program Planning
    • Develop a comprehensive plan including:
    • Task and stage breakdown
    • Recruitment of volunteers and personnel
    • Verification of applications and preparation of beneficiary lists
    • Budget formulation
    • Fundraising from individuals, donor organizations, and internal resources
    • Distribution of assistance
  3. Program Execution and Monitoring
    • Organize community sports leagues and clubs (football, cricket, volleyball, etc.) with regular training and match coaching.
    • Integrate life-skills sessions covering conflict resolution, discipline, and leadership.
    • Provide joint mentorship by law enforcement officers and social workers to ensure holistic guidance.
  4. Program Evaluation
  • The program is ongoing and has already shown positive impacts by creating new opportunities for juvenile offenders.
  • To expand its reach, stronger financial support, community engagement, and long-term planning are required.
  • In 2024, a total of 5 juveniles benefited from this initiative, with an expenditure of BDT 3,200.00.
